Who uses resume QR codes

In a competitive job market, a QR code on your resume signals technical awareness and makes it easy for reviewers to dig deeper.

Students & new grads

Link your resume QR to your LinkedIn profile or student portfolio. Stand out in a stack of identical CVs.

Career changers

A QR code linking to a video introduction or detailed work history gives context that a one-page resume can't.

Designers & developers

Your portfolio does more selling than your resume. A QR code is the shortest path from paper to live work samples.

LinkedIn profiles

Link your resume QR directly to LinkedIn where recommendations, endorsements, and work samples live.

Extended PDF CV

Print a condensed 1-page resume with a QR code that opens the full multi-page PDF for interested reviewers.

Business card résumé

Print a business card with your name, title, and a QR code. Recruiters at job fairs scan and have everything instantly.

How it works

Add a QR code to your resume in 4 steps

1

Choose what to link

Decide what to link: LinkedIn profile URL, personal website, portfolio, or a Google Drive link to your PDF resume. The more specific the destination, the more useful the scan.

2

Generate the QR code

Open QR Maker, select "URL", paste your link, and a QR code generates instantly. Consider a dynamic QR so you can change the destination later.

3

Keep the design clean

For resumes, use a clean, monochrome QR code that doesn't distract from the content. Add a small label like "Portfolio" or "LinkedIn" below.

4

Add to your resume & print

Embed the downloaded PNG in your resume (top corner), export your resume as PDF, and you're ready. Test the scan from the printed version.

FAQ

Resume QR code questions

What should a resume QR code link to?
The most effective options are: your LinkedIn profile (for professional credibility), a personal website or portfolio (for creatives and developers), a Google Drive / Dropbox link to a full PDF resume (for more detail than fits on one page), or a video introduction link on YouTube or Loom.
Where should I put the QR code on my resume?
The top-right corner of a resume works well — near your name and contact details. Keep it small (0.75–1 inch) so it doesn't dominate the layout. Add a small label like "LinkedIn" or "Portfolio" under the code.
Will ATS systems reject resumes with QR codes?
ATS systems parse text, not images. A QR code is an image and is simply ignored by ATS parsing — it won't hurt your score. The QR code is valuable for human reviewers who receive printed or PDF versions.
Can I track who scans my resume QR code?
Yes — with a dynamic QR code (Pro plan), you get scan analytics including total scans, device types, and daily trends. This can tell you when a hiring manager scanned your QR, which is a strong signal of interest.
Should I use a static or dynamic QR code for my resume?
Dynamic QR codes (Pro) are ideal for resumes because you can update the destination if your portfolio or LinkedIn URL changes — without regenerating and reprinting. Static QR codes are free and work if your URL won't change.

Added a portfolio QR to my resume. Two interviewers at my last round said they scanned it before the meeting. I got the offer. Correlation is not causation, but still.

Tech hiring

As a developer, I linked my GitHub via QR on my CV. The hiring manager said it was the fastest way they'd ever reviewed a candidate's actual code. Got three callbacks that week.

Graduate recruitment

Career fair networking changed for me when I put a QR on a small card linking to my LinkedIn. Employers scan and connect on the spot. Way better than hoping they remember my name.
