Restaurant QR code best practices
Print at 4–5 cm minimum
Table-distance scanning (50–70cm from a seated guest) requires at least 4cm × 4cm. Bigger is always better.
Always add a call-to-action
"Scan for menu" or "Scan to connect" doubles scan rates by removing ambiguity about what happens.
Use SVG for all print materials
SVG scales without quality loss — crisp at any size from a small tent card to a large window sign.
Test under restaurant lighting
Dim lighting and candles affect scan speed. Test your QR code in your actual dining room conditions before final print.
Use your brand colors
A QR code in your restaurant's colors gets scanned more than a plain black-and-white code — it looks intentional.
Create a guest Wi-Fi network
Use a separate guest network for the Wi-Fi QR code so you don't expose your main network to all guests.
